CAR DATA LOGGER IN A BOAT

Jan/04                       Eagle Tree Systems Link

I received my CDR Monday Jan 12/2004.   I want to see what my prop rpm is. How many amps I'm pulling under load.  I will add more data to this page as I get it.  At 2 oz in weight the unit is very compact and can tuck in almost anywhere.  You must keep water away from the unit  it is not water proof.  I wanted to use the temp sensor on the electric motor which proved to be a bad idea. It channeled all the motor noise into the receiver causing extreme glitches.  Not a big deal I will just monitor the temp of the ESC or Battery pack.  It is great to have a tool like this available and the cost is less then a high amp brushless ESC.  The service from Eagle Tree has been nothing short of excellent.  Emails were answer promptly and Bill always had a fix or an answer to any problems I was having.  If you like to get real data from your setups this unit is a must have!!!!

Below are some video's of a readout from the recorder and a video of the actual run. There is also a edited version of a few laps to keep the file size down.

30 cell run Data video (full run,35meg )  (condensed run,11meg)  Note:  My battery pack voltage doesn't come in till I turn left.  (lose wire)  top speed GPS verified was 24.7mph

Below is a bench test(18 cells) showing no load rpm in blue, throttle in green and steering in red  (Click to enlarge)

Above is a pic of the rpm sensor mount

Below is a set of 3 Graphs.  The red box shows the region of the graph that is blown up in the next pic.  This set of Graphs is data from a 24 cell run with a 462 prop. You can see from this graph that this is not the prop to make 4 mins.  In fact it almost burnt the motor up.

Below are some graphs from a 30 cell run with the 646 prop

Below you can see the point where I made the left hand turn and my lose connection started working to give me pack voltage and watt numbers

45 second sample from Jan 30th/04 test run--   32 cells 646 prop 27 mph
