How to make a tape less racing hatch.
You need some 3/8 inch waterproof foam weather stripping, 3pcs of 1 3/8" long 1/4" nylon bolts, 4pcs 1/4 nylon nuts, 2pcs 1/4 nylon wing nuts, an antenna tube and some 5 min putty epoxy. 1 bolt will be turned or sanded down to make the front locking pin. First thing to do is place the hatch on the hull and drill 1/4" holes for the back screws. Once those 2 holes are finished install the weather striping. Then install the 2 back bolts. The picture doesn't show it but you will use 2 nuts per side. 1 will hold the bolt in and the other will go on top of that bolt to support the bottom face of the hatch. The bolt that will hold the antenna tube will have a small hole drilled through to allow the receiver antenna to pass through it will also be opened up half way to the size of the antenna tube which will be CA'd in place. Once the rear bolts have been installed you will install the pin you made in the front you can CA or use goop. When the pin has dried you have to put the hatch on and mark where the mating hole will go at the front. Make the hole a little bit bigger then the pin. When the hole is finished do a test fit of the hatch. It will seem lose at the front but that's OK. Now you will kneed the epoxy putty to mix about the size of a large marble) and put that behind the front hole you drilled. Before the putty starts to cure put the hatch back on and hold the front down with tape so you put a little pressure on the weather stripping. Tighten down the 2 rear wing nuts and let the boat sit until the putty cures. If your worried about the putty sticking to the front pin, just put a little oil on it before you push it into the putty not to much though. You will now have a tape less waterproof hatch that is very easy and quick to remove and install.
